Credit Union Collection Representative

Please note: The incumbent can be located within a 3-hour radius of the Atlanta metro areas.
This position will collect (via phone or other methods) on past due accounts, will recommend, or assign accounts in need of skip tracing to locate the members or vehicles. The Collection Representative will ensure policies and procedures are followed, and complete other assigned projects or activities as assigned. While speaking with members to determine reason for delinquency. Take appropriate action to resolve the account matters. Discuss financial obligation, advises of possible options available. Respond to members inquiries by phone and recommend further action as deemed necessary.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Review account to insure the loan is set up properly.
- Required to make telephone (both home and work). contact to borrower/co-borrower.
- If no contact, a letter, and email should be sent.
- If no phone numbers, call references listed on the loan application.
- Within this time frame the collector should confirm that security liens have been perfected.
- If no current information exits on each account, escalate the account to begin skip tracing efforts.
- Maybe required to close lines of credit, checking accounts, and hot card cards.
- Required to attempt contact on all accounts twice a week unless firm arrangements or extenuating circumstances (Bankruptcy, legally enforced collections, deceased, etc.).
- Negotiating payment plans, if necessary.
- Documentation is extremely important and required.
- Determine the reason for delinquency, discuss financial obligation and payment options.
- Researching accounts based on company records.
- Work closely with Manager on collection projects
- Complete all required online training.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma; GED equivalent
Related Work Experience: Minimum two years of credit union or banking experience.
