Job Description
The Machine Operator safely operates, monitors, and adjusts production machinery in a metal manufacturing environment to meet daily output, quality, and safety goals. This role includes machine setup, basic troubleshooting, quality inspections, and maintaining accurate production records while supporting continuous production flow and ensuring all products meet internal and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate production machinery safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets.
- Set up machines according to production specifications, including adjustments for different materials and product requirements.
- Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments to maintain optimal operation and product quality.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production flow.
- Conduct quality control inspections on finished and in-process products to ensure they meet company and customer specifications.
- Use measurement tools, such as tape measures, to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
- Support production activities by coordinating material flow and ensuring machines are supplied with required materials.
- Maintain accurate and timely production records, including output, quality checks, and any machine adjustments or issues.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment around heavy metal materials and machinery.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks as needed to keep equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and continuous improvement goals.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to safely operate production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with machine operation and setup, including adjusting equipment for different production runs.
- Strong skills in quality control and inspection, including verifying measurements and product specifications.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve common machine and process issues.
- Ability to support continuous production by managing material flow and monitoring equipment performance.
- Commitment to safety, including following established procedures and maintaining a hazard-free work area.
- Ability to perform routine housekeeping to keep workstations clean and organized.
- Comfort working with measurement tools such as tape measures to ensure accurate dimensions.
- Ability to work effectively around metal fabrication processes and heavy metal materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a metal manufacturing environment with steel, copper, brass, and other metals.
- Experience in CNC operation or metal fabrication processes.
- Experience operating a stand-up forklift in a production or warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with basic maintenance practices for production machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a production team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.

Work Environment
The role is based in a steel manufacturing facility where employees work around large pieces of steel, metal, copper, and brass. The environment is non-climate-controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Safety is the top priority, with strict adherence to safety procedures and practices required at all times. Team members work in proximity to heavy materials and machinery, and are expected to maintain clean, organized work areas to support safe and efficient operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kennesaw, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
