Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring Epic proficiency, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and flexibility to float across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units on night shift.
Details
- Float position covering all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
- Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses spanning medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care
- Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on PCU; 1:5–6 on MS and MS/Tele units
- EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis medication dispensing system also in use
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
- Floating to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units is required
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license — GA or Compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with IV therapy, peripheral line care, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration and non-titration)
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above) are highly preferred for consideration

- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience are preferred
- RTO must be finalized prior to offer — no schedule changes or RTO requests are permitted after offer or once on-site; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Maximum 7 days of RTO per contract
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment, travelers are expected to work 2 (one holiday RTO request may be considered) — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Candidates who have previously worked at or applied to this health system as permanent, per diem, or float pool staff must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before being eligible as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
