Senior Plumbing Engineer – Department Leader (2025)

This is a full-time, direct-hire position offering comprehensive benefits and long-term career growth within a dynamic consulting engineering firm specializing in highly technical buildings.
The Senior Plumbing Engineer – Department Leader will lead the Plumbing Department, coordinate projects, establish design standards, and ensure technical excellence on healthcare and other complex building projects. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years’ plumbing design experience and at least 5 years’ project management experience for healthcare building projects.
Job Duties will include:
Lead and supervise the Plumbing Department, delegating workloads and managing staff.
Establish design standards, review technical plans, and provide specifications for projects.
Design and oversee plumbing systems, including sanitary, storm, domestic water, medical gas, and sustainable systems.
Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions.
Coordinate with other trades, project consultants, and stakeholders.
Participate in budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC, and project delivery.
Oversee construction administrative tasks (RFIs, field reports, bulletins).
Mentor junior staff and support professional development.
Partner with senior leadership on proposals, scope of work, and business development initiatives.
Requirements:
10+ years’ experience in plumbing design, preferably healthcare-focused.
5+ years’ experience in project management.
Strong knowledge of plumbing and medical gas systems, building codes, and industry standards.
Proven leadership and staff management skills.
Experience with Revit, sustainable design, and multi-disciplinary project coordination.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
