Plastics Manufacturing Changeover Mechanic

Ready for a role where your set-ups define the day’s success? Imagine walking in to find three lines queued for changeover. You map the sequence, stage the tooling, and handle a full mold change — disconnecting, removing, relocating, installing, reconnecting — and bring the line to production. Quality parts hit the conveyor at the expected rate, and you’re already improving the next changeover.

Your Mission

• Lead major and minor mechanical changeovers: line set-ups, mold and trim tool changes, guide bar replacements, pick adjustments, and control parameter tuning.
• Diagnose malfunctions quickly and adjust related equipment to protect quality and achieve published throughput.
• Execute scheduled PMs (weekly/monthly/quarterly) with component rebuilds on trim presses, formers, printers, grinders, tooling, and automation equipment.
• Maintain a ready-to-run tooling program: storage, organization, and reliable cleaning systems (filters, solutions, tanks).
• Perform periodic mold cleaning and inspection; capture documentation and maintain tool history.
• Identify and implement modifications/upgrades that reduce downtime and compress changeover times.
• Coach associates to uphold set-up integrity and safe, standard work practices.
• Pitch in on shop routines and process technician work when assigned.
• Support spare parts specification and procurement.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Precision-focused background — ideally as a machinist in a high-accuracy manufacturing setting.
• Close-tolerance fabrication, assembly, and machine set-up capability.
• Proficiency with precision measurement and set-up instruments.
• Comfort with computerized controls and HMIs; capable with desktop software for data collection and analysis.
• Ownership mindset: organized, self-directed, and accountable; strong problem-solving skills.
• Understands work design, demonstrates best practices, and acts without step-by-step direction.
• Team-oriented; communicates effectively with colleagues at all levels.
• Preferred: hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance knowledge; plastics industry exposure; crane/forklift experience and heavy mold handling.

Work Style & Flexibility

Be prepared for overtime, on-call support, and occasional changes to hours, shifts, or teams based on production needs.
