Project Accountant (Milton)

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading energy infrastructure organization in Alpharetta to identify a Project Accountant to support capital and reimbursable project accounting. This role works closely with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate cost tracking, compliant billing, and reliable financial reporting across active infrastructure projects.

Summary

This position is responsible for supporting project-based accounting activities, including cost tracking, contract billing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. The role focuses heavily on cost-plus and reimbursable contract structures and requires close coordination with project management and client stakeholders to ensure accurate invoicing and timely cost recovery.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for capital and reimbursable (cost-plus, T&M) projects

• Prepare, review, and submit client invoices based on contract terms

• Track and allocate project costs to ensure proper billability and accuracy

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes (including a 4-day close cycle)

• Perform general ledger activities including journal entries and account reconciliations

• Handle fixed asset accounting including unitizations, retirements, and reclassifications

• Partner with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure accurate billing and timely collections

• Assist with ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and process improvements

• Support continuous improvement of accounting systems and workflows

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in project accounting, general ledger accounting, or related roles

• Experience working in an ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or similar)

• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)

• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes

• Strong attention to detail and process discipline

• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

• Ability to manage deadlines in a structured, fast-paced accounting environment
