General Description:

Under direct supervision is responsible for receiving telephone calls and/or visitors. Assists Technical Services and Operations department personnel in administrative duties. Serves as central radio dispatcher.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

- Receives incoming calls or visitors. Determines the nature of the call and answers questions and/or refers to appropriate person in the Technical Services, Operations, or other appropriate area.

- Serves as central radio dispatcher initiating or receiving radio calls to relay or receive information. May look up requests for data such as transformer numbers, pole locations, service specifications, etc., and relay that information. Operates OMS/Dispatch system to relay messages and outage notifications. In emergency situations when crew supervisor is not available, utilizes knowledge of the system to dispatch work crews to expedite correction of problems.

- Receives trouble calls and expedites corrective action by routing to appropriate personnel. Routes standby personnel as needed.

- Maintains numerous records, records information, files reports, etc.

- Using computer key board, types correspondence, quotes, etc. Enters data in computer to generate reports. Operates plotter to scan and print drawing files as needed.

- Monitors SCADA and OMS Dispatch/Calls Manager.

- Incumbent must be available for on-call duties, special trouble calls, and overtime as necessary.

- May receive visitors, obtain name and nature of business, and schedule appointments.

- As a public employee is responsible for maintaining good relations with the public served.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

- Use eyes, hands, and fingers accurately while operating a computer keyboard, calculator, or other office machines.

- Perform repetitive tasks.

- Follow set or routine procedures.

- Work with speed and accuracy.

- Be able to receive and relay or transmit messages accurately.

Physical Demands: Lifting, pulling, or pushing 25 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as computer printouts, notebooks, small tools, etc. walking and standing are required only occasionally. Reaching. Sitting. Twisting. Handling. Fingering. Feeling. Seeing. Driving vehicle occasionally.

Environmental Conditions: Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside. Working around some noise. Working alone.

Math Skills: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.

Language Skills : Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.

Relationships to:

Data : High amount of compiling, gathering, or classifying information.

People: Taking instructions, helping: Helping applies to “non-learning” helpers.

Things: Starting, stopping, controlling, and adjusting the progress of machines or equipment. Operating machines involves setting up and adjusting the machine or materials as the work progresses. Controlling involves observing progress of operations and turning devices to regulate reaction of materials.

Specific Vocational Preparation: Includes an occupationally significant combination of: Vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

Education requirements: High school diploma or GED

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $26.87 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
