Material Handling Equipment Service Technician (Forklifts)
Picture your day: You start your shift by checking the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for scheduled preventive maintenance. A pallet jack needs a battery inspection, a reach truck has a sensor fault, and a dock leveler is due for lubrication. You gather your tools—voltmeters, ohmmeters, and a well-stocked kit—and head out to keep the warehouse humming.
What you’ll take on
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (MHE) to meet OSHA and operational standards.
- Maintain and service industrial batteries and chargers in accordance with OSHA requirements.
- Diagnose issues and verify repairs using testing instruments (voltmeters, ohmmeters, and related tools).
- Care for tools and machinery; follow manufacturer and company procedures for safe, careful use.
- Test safety equipment to confirm conformance with OSHA and internal standards.
- Document accurate PMs and work orders in the CMMS.
- Maintain a 6S workspace—clean, organized, and audit-ready.
- Assist with general facility maintenance, including basic refrigeration tasks, dock doors/levelers, plumbing, electrical, and building upkeep.
- Support other maintenance assignments as needed and participate in on-call rotations or flexible shifts.
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- One of the following:
- 1+ year of forklift maintenance experience; or
- Specialized forklift training (e.g., Crown, Raymond); or
- 2+ years as a mechanic in a related field (auto, diesel, truck/trailer) in lieu of specialized forklift experience.
- Ability to complete assigned technical training and mechanical/electrical courses.
- HAZMAT training—ability to obtain and maintain certification.
- Basic computer skills (email, internet searches, data entry).

- Background in cold storage environments.
- OEM-specific forklift training (Crown, Raymond, etc.).
- Technical certification or degree.
- Advanced troubleshooting down to the component level on MHE.
- Experience with Oracle CMMS.

Forklifts (Hyster, Jungheinrich, Raymond, Crown, Yale), voltmeters, ohmmeters, and common shop tools.
Schedule and environment
- Flexible shifts; may include on-call coverage, nights, and weekends.
- Support a warehouse environment that can include cold storage operations.

- Work in controlled environments as low as –20°F and in varying outdoor conditions (heat, cold, precipitation).
- Work at heights over 35 ft., including accessing elevated platforms and catwalks.
- Climb ladders and stairs; frequently stand, walk, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, depth perception (with glasses if needed). Contact lenses are prohibited when working with ammonia.
- Ability to pass a physical and respiratory exam.
