Job Summary
ESI, a Stratus Team company, is seeking a Construction Inspector to support our engineering services in our water/wastewater market segment in Marietta, Georgia. The Construction Inspector is responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with plans, specifications, and regulatory standards. This role involves conducting on-site inspections, documenting project progress, and identifying any issues that could impact quality, safety, or compliance. The Construction Inspector works closely with contractors, project managers, and engineers to ensure that construction activities are carried out to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Primary Essential Functions
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations
- Document construction progress, including taking detailed notes, photographs, and measurements, to create accurate and thorough inspection reports
- Identify any construction deficiencies or deviations from plans, specifications, or regulatory requirements, and communicate issues to contractors and project managers
- Review construction materials and techniques to ensure quality and durability, and verify that they meet specified standards and requirements
- Monitor construction activities to ensure that all work adheres to safety protocols and industry standards, reporting any safety concerns to relevant personnel
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address issues, clarify project specifications, and ensure the timely resolution of any discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all inspections, including daily logs, site photos, and documentation of any corrective actions
- Prepare and submit inspection reports to project managers and relevant stakeholders, highlighting findings, issues, and recommendations
- Assist with final inspections and project closeouts to verify that all construction meets quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Stay informed on building codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure up-to-date and effective inspection processes
- This role will require field work, routinely visiting construction sites, and monitoring the installation of water and wastewater infrastructure
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, with coursework or training in construction, engineering, or a related field
- Post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering, or related fields is a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in construction inspection, quality control, or a related field
- Certification in construction inspection (e.g., ICC, ACI) or a related qualification
- The individual must have confined space training and OSHA construction site safety training to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
- Familiarity with blueprints and technical drawings
- Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and organizational skills
