Position Description

The Project Manager III position will be responsible for management and senior level engineering guidance for multi-year projects for HGL’s EPA client. Additionally, the PM will have opportunities to manage other projects for HGL across its diverse program and project portfolio.

This is a full-time position supporting our Atlanta, GA office. This role will work a hybrid office schedule, working in-office approximately three days per week and from home two days per week.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

Management

  • Management of technical and administrative aspects of CERCLA RI/FS, RD/RA, operations and maintenance (O&M), and/or long-term monitoring (LTM) or RCRA equivalent phases of environmental restoration projects.
  • Meeting project scope, schedule, budget requirements.
  • Directing, managing, and leading project teams to meet objectives in-line with corporate and customer quality expectations.
  • Mentoring of Junior Engineering Staff, Deputy Project Managers, and other staff in the proper execution of projects, preparation of deliverables, and engineering activities.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.
  • Effectively manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
  • Supporting business development efforts, including leading or supporting proposal efforts.

Engineering

  • Overseeing the development of engineering studies, plans, designs, and specifications for the remediation of environmental contamination.
  • Coordinating the development and preparation of feasibility studies, engineering evaluations/cost analyses (EE/CAs), remedial designs, and pilot study designs.
  • Interfacing with other program and project managers, senior technical staff, the government (customer), and RA Contractors.
  • Reviewing specifications, drawings, work plans, and ongoing construction activities to assure compliance.
  • Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) oversight.
  • Potential 10% travel within the U.S. as needed to support projects.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience executing and managing investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA and RCRA, including oversight of project teams, management of budget, schedule, safety, quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Ability to build consensus among leadership, internal, and external stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.

What You Need To Stand Out

  • PE, and/or PMP certifications.
  • Work experience in the southeast (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee).
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with investigation and/or remediation of PFAS impacted sites.
  • Experience with high resolution site characterization (HRSC).
  • Solid understanding of screening values and risk assessment process.
  • Experience with remedial technologies and approaches.

The annual salary range for this position ranges from $110,568 - $171,381. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
