Position Overview
The IT Business Analyst collaborates with business stakeholders, Information Technology resources, vendors, and other key stakeholders to understand, document, and clearly articulate business processes, structures, policies, and operations as well as system data flows and usage.
They work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that requirements, priorities, functional designs, technical designs, and solution designs drive the desired business outcomes. The documents and artifacts they create are easily understood by both business and technical team members and provide team members with the information they need to design, build, deliver, and sustain technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Leadership Functions:
- Accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the team.
- Develop and explicitly communicate Product and Project goals.
- Create and clearly communicate the Product Backlog items and Project requirements.
- Ordering and prioritization of Product Backlog items.
- Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood.
- Foster teamwork across teams.
- Puts the team before themselves.
Business Data Analyst Functions:
- Document demand and project requirements from initiation through definition of done including eliciting and delivering requirements, change management facilitation, perform gap analysis, communication, testing, and training while promoting best practices and standards.
- Engage with all project stakeholders both internally and externally including Executive and IT Management, Project Sponsor, Product Owner, Subject Matter Experts and additional required resources to continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
- Responsible for eliciting requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process mapping and descriptions, build vs buy analysis, task and workflow analysis for critical evaluation of information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
- Create and deliver artifacts derived from functional requirements utilizing: Business Requirement Documents, Functional Design Documents, Technical Design Documents, Diagrams, User Stories and Mockups for development and subject matter acceptance to establish the technical vision and balance usability and performance needs.
- Assist in coordination, leading and/or participating in the testing process and UAT.
- Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on the user requirements.
- Capture simple to complex business logic and transformation calculations and translate them to overall project deliverables.
- Generate data lineage and Transformations logic from industry standard ETL tools and add that as part of the playbook.
- Capture Data Quality rules and provide to development team to be included for reconciliation process.
- Create and maintain processes to generate accurate and timely reports that help stakeholders understand and act on key data insights.
- Assist Product Owner with user story creation and backlog management ("Service to the Product Owner").
- Assist Product Owner and Lead Developer in executing showcases.
- Responsible for developing internal and external communications related to releases and product demos.
- Lead the request for proposal (RFP), process by working with business, performance, IT, and vendors to document requirements, prioritize features, identify potential vendors/solutions, coordinate demos, consolidate and analyze vendor responses, work with IT teams to conduct technical and security assessments, develop budget models, and finalize the selection of a product.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT, business, or computer science or equivalent IT experience.
- 5-7 years’ experience eliciting and documenting requirements, including business requirements, functional requirements & technical requirements.
- 3+ Years of experience with software development and/or writing SQL queries for data analysis.
- 3+ Years of experience working as a business analyst with software development and/or Data and Analytics organizations.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) a plus.
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) a plus.
- Certified Product Owner (CPO) a plus.
- Experience working on Cloud Datawarehouse platform (Snowflake, Azure Synapse etc.).
- PC skills and hands-on experience building tools and presentations with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

- Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Must be available to travel up to 10%.
