Health and Safety Specialist

DP World in the Atlanta, GA area is looking for a committed, observant, and proactive  Health & Safety Specialist who’s ready to protect our people and strengthen our safety culture every single day.

 

In this role, you’ll be the eyes and ears of the operation —conducting safety audits, supporting training, identifying hazards, reinforcing compliance, and helping create an environment where employees feel confident, protected, and empowered. You’ll work closely with the Health & Safety Manager and Operations team to drive safe behaviors, investigate incidents, and ensure we meet (and exceed) all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement and monitor site HSE programs, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, fire code, and corporate standards.

  • Conduct facility inspections, hazard assessments, and audits across all shifts.

  • Maintain required documentation, permits, logs, and safety records.

  • Monitor contractor and visitor compliance with site safety expectations.

Incident Prevention & Response

  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

  • Track safety trends, identify risks, and recommend preventive measures.

  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and post-incident reviews.

  • Serve as a safety resource for employees in a 24/7 environment.

Training & Engagement

  • Deliver new-hire safety orientation and refresher training.

  • Support MHE, PPE, LOTO, hazard communication, and required safety programs.

  • Coach employees and supervisors on safe practices, hazard recognition, and compliance.

  • Support safety communications, campaigns, and recognition efforts to strengthen engagement.

Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement

Quality & Safety Requirements

  • Ensure alignment with QMS and operational SOPs affecting safety and compliance.

  • Assist with quality audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities impacting safety.

  • Support adherence to customer, regulatory, and corporate safety and quality standards.

  • Promote accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with process controls.

  • Ensure safety equipment, PPE, and emergency systems meet regulatory and quality requirements.

  • Partner with Operations and Quality to address safety implications related to process deviations, equipment issues, or product-handling risks.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support development and rollout of safety and quality initiatives to reduce risk and improve performance.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to represent HSE priorities.

  • Assist with annual program reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen risk controls.

Physical Requirements

Standing and Walking: Will need to stand for long periods of time, such as when packing items, or walk long distances, such as when picking items from different locations

Climbing: Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, or ramps.

Postures: Bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and crouching.

Lifting: Lifting and or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.

Environment: Work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment, with temperatures that can vary widely from extreme heat in the summer to extreme cold in the winter.

Operating heavy equipment: Warehouse workers may need to operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks

Clothing PPE: Ability to wear personal protective gear (which may include, but is not limited to, composite toe shoes, gloves, headwear, face masks, hearing protection, fall protection, high visibility clothing, and/or safety glasses)
