Essential Job Functions
Creates designs using industry standards, client guidelines, manufacturer specifications, and Squan standards.
Uses value-based engineering approach to make design/routing/environment decisions to create an efficient, quality, constructable design.
Creates design prints and construction prints/drawings always taking into account customer standards and requirements, and SQUAN processes.
Creates splicing documentation that is accurate.
Posts as-built plant records based on construction daily reports and/or redline drawings.
Works closely with internal Project Managers, peer designers or drafters, design lead, and design manager to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Drives profitability by creating constructable, quality designs that meet customer requirements, approval and SQUAN standards.
Stays current with scope changes and understands the scope applicable to the work being performed.
Communicates with permit coordinators/design leads and keeps project tracker(s) current up to the hour.
Adheres to the timelines for design, drafting, drawing/print creation, quality control, and all other tasks.
Collaborates with permit coordinator, design lead and design manager to overcome obstacles that prevent timely delivery of a quality product.
Focuses on high level customer interaction to both internal and external customers.
Validation of daily work received from the field to guarantee accuracy of both in-house and subcontractor deliverables where applicable .
Attends meetings with design lead, design manager, or project manager as needed.
May be required to draw various polygons in GIS tools as required by the project scope.
Submits timesheets daily with the appropriate time coded to the project, aspect, and task.
Performs other duties as assigned by Design Lead or Design Manager

Ability to follow a process and interpret as-builts/redlines, internal QA redlines, standards, guidelines, and requirements effectively.
Excels at organization, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
Employs a sense of urgency and has the ability to prioritize effectively.
Good organizational skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and track project development.
Strong work ethic and leads by example and does what it takes to get the job done.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and with various other software programs.
Ability to always communicate professionally, with clarity, at the frequencies required by management and customers.
Takes feedback well and has the ability to take said feedback and make sufficient adjustments.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements
Must be 18 or older.
Must be proficient in ArcGIS and AutoCAD with 5 years minimum experience.
Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner.
Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Requirements
Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
Vetro, IQGeo and other system experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related degree
Two years of experience in telecommunication, OSP, or with a public or private utility.
