Located in Macon, GA, this opportunity involves providing skilled care in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting within a large teaching hospital known for its Level 1 Trauma Designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center. The hospital features 637 licensed beds and offers a comprehensive patient care environment.

This contract role requires a minimum of 2 years nursing experience in medical-surgical or telemetry units. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Patient assignments range across multiple MedSurg units, each with 20-36 beds, caring for diverse inpatient populations. Nursing ratios generally range from 1:4 to 1:6 for RNs and LPNs, with CNAs supporting patient care.

Responsibilities include managing cardiac drips proficiently (including insulin and heparin infusions), tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer usage. Candidates must be capable of performing EKG competency exams during onboarding and are encouraged to have ACLS certification (preferred) and BLS certification (required). Certification in MedSurg nursing is advantageous.

Support within the department is strong, featuring CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource nurses, and 24/7 hospitalists and intensivists. The unit utilizes EPIC for EMR documentation and employs modern equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensers, and Phillips monitors.

Floating is expected within the MedSurg/Telemetry units, providing a dynamic work environment. Orientation includes one day of facility introduction and two days of departmental training coupled with educational modules.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active RN license with at least 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Proficient in cardiac drip management and critical MedSurg skills
• Comfortable floating across multiple units
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam
• Certification in MedSurg nursing is a plus
