**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced **Pavement Sales Estimator** with a strong background in asphalt and/or concrete pavement projects to join our team. This hybrid role combines high-level sales and estimating responsibilities with hands-on project management once a sale is closed. The ideal candidate will drive revenue growth by providing accurate, competitive estimates to clients while ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction post-sale. This position requires deep industry knowledge, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects from bid to completion.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Sales & Estimating (Pre-Sale Phase)**
- Respond promptly to client inquiries, leads, and requests for proposals (RFPs) for pavement-related projects, including driveways, parking lots, roadways, repairs, sealcoating, striping, and site work.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate existing conditions, measure quantities, and identify project requirements.
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare detailed, accurate take-offs and cost estimates.
- Calculate costs for materials (asphalt, concrete, aggregates, etc.), labor, equipment, subcontractors, trucking, and overhead/profit margins.
- Develop and present professional proposals, bids, and quotes that are competitive, clear, and comprehensive.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and scope adjustments with clients to close sales while maintaining profitability.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, general contractors, property managers, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to sales strategies in the pavement sector.
**Project Management (Post-Sale Phase)**
- Transition sold projects seamlessly to execution by coordinating with operations, production, and field teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Manage change orders, variations, and any scope adjustments, including preparing additional estimates as needed.
- Monitor project progress, costs, and quality control in the field.
- Handle billing, collections, and final closeout documentation, including obtaining necessary sign-offs and warranties.
- Resolve any issues or disputes that arise during construction to maintain positive client relationships.
**Qualifications & Requirements**
- Minimum **7 years of direct experience** in pavement sales, estimating, and/or project management within the asphalt and/or concrete paving industry (commercial, residential, municipal, or industrial projects).
- Proven track record of successfully estimating and closing pavement projects, with hands-on knowledge of field operations.
- Strong understanding of paving materials, methods, best practices, productivity rates, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills for precise quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
- Experience with estimating software/tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Agtek, Excel-based systems, or similar) preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent site visits and client meetings.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, profitability, and client satisfaction.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Prior experience in a combined sales/estimating/project management role in paving or heavy civil construction.
- Knowledge of local codes, permitting processes, and safety regulations in the paving industry.
- Familiarity with public-sector bidding processes (e.g., DOT or municipal projects).
