Plant Engineer

:

SUMMARY

The position consists of coordinating all mechanical, electrical and civil projects. These projects include design, layout, and satisfying codes supervision of installation to meet scheduling. Assist in troubleshooting, schedule work with and purchase new and replacement parts and equipment. Prepare contracts for service groups. Responsible for emergency response capabilities, hazardous waste activities, environmental reporting and emergency procedures to protect the company's assets and minimize associated liabilities.

Role Purpose:

Provide day-to-day leadership to the maintenance supervisor and maintenance staff with support in the building, design and maintenance of all tools for various programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Other duties may be assigned.

1. Ensure preventive maintenance and all departmental activities are completed in a timely manner to ensure maximum uptime of all equipment.

2. Perform Environmental reporting and hazardous waste activities to satisfy government legislation.

3. This position is responsible for the following HS&E elements:

Emergency Response Preparedness

Use of Contractor

Isocyanate Monitor Use/Alarms

Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Hot Work Permit

Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout)

Risk Management

Waste Management

4. Oversee emergency response functions to meet government legislation and perform the role of Emergency Response Coordinator.

5. Prepare quotes, specifications and schedules for projects and contracts.

6. Research technology to increase efficiency of equipment, reduce downtime and create a comfortable work environment.

7. Assist production and process departments in changes and methods of production equipment and handling.

8. Safety Committee and related meetings and training

9. Provide overall direction, training and supervision to the maintenance supervisor and maintenance staff and outside suppliers.

10. Responsible for ensuring safe work practices of personnel, proper management of resources, quality services and business objectives are achieved.

11. Establish maintenance routines and procedures.

12. Plan, budget, schedule and co-ordinate capital projects.

13. Responsible for product management of departmental budget, including budget preparation and cost control.

14. Member of Management Team responsible for planning, budgeting and implementing TQM.

15. Coordinate project installations to minimize lost production time costs, and to maximize safety, quality and efficiency.

16. Approve corporate engineering projects installation.

17. Understand BIC Key performance indicators and develop and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed BIC 75.

18. Drive lean principles to reduce waste and implement 5S and Kaizens in department.

19. Ensure good communication across shifts, departments

20. Participate in problem solving, VSM, Kaizen projects

21. Train, disqualify, qualify and audit performance on teammates

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical
• Five to eight years of experience in a manufacturing/process environment in maintenance, process, plant engineering or manufacturing functions
• Must have demonstrated project/management skills coupled with good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be a strong planner and well organized, able to handle conflicting priorities, experienced in managing contractors and technical staff
• Excellent technical knowledge including applicable engineering principles and codes, safety and environmental requirements, and other related legislation
• Understanding of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements and work procedures
• Preference given to those with 3rd/4th class steam engineer ticket or steam experience
• Good computer skills (spreadsheets, CAD, etc.)
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
