Position Description:
Assist the Sanitation Supervisor by leading the sanitation crew in maintaining effective sanitary conditions to meet product quality, food/human safety, sanitation, and environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Directs work of employees per the plan established by the Supervisor.
- Communicates and sets expectations with team at start of shift, including PPE needs, distribution, and verifications.
- Prioritizing tasks and assigning employees or assisting as needed.
- Monitors cleaning practices to adherence to the SSOPs.
- Conducts post-sanitation inspections.
- Helps enforce compliance to established SSOPs and other safety protocols (LOTO, chemical handling, etc).
- Tag Equipment as needed (Red Tag/Yellow Tag). Reporting damages or repairs needed to maintenance and supervisor.
- Submit and follow up on tickets issued for maintenance items through the supervisor.
· Chemical Management:
- Responsible for the distribution and replacement of chemicals as needed.
- Responsible for the documentation and verification of chemical concentration as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment inside the chemical and storage cages.
· Training:
- Helps develop and implement training plans for new and existing employees.
- Attends training sessions as needed to maintain compliance with regulatory knowledge.
· Assists in validating and verifying of Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP) for new processes or changes to equipment.
- Ensure all growth niche areas of immobile equipment are cleaned thoroughly with ATP swab testing.
- Recommend inventory levels for Personal Protective Equipment, chemicals, and other supplies based on SSOP.
· Corrective Action Awareness: Collaborates as needed in the development or implementation of corrective actions.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
· Coach, counsel, motivate employees as needed.
· Completion of Standard Work.
· Serves as contact for technicians/laborers when attempting to resolve conflicts or deviations and/or in the absence of the supervisor.
Requirements:
· Able to speak, read and write English; bilingual Spanish a plus but not required
· One to three years food industry and/or supervisory experience
· Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and USDA regulations
· Effective communication skills
· Computer skills preferred
· High school graduate or equivalent
· Able to work night shift; overtime and weekends as needed
Competencies:
· Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds occasionally throughout 8 hour shift
· Able to tolerate hot/steam and wet conditions 8+ hours per day
· Able to work around and with chemicals including alkaline detergents, acid and chlorine liquids, and caustic soaps
· Standing, walking, and climbing 8+ hours per day; bend, stoop, and squat
