FAMILY CONSULTANT SUPERVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Family Consultant Supervisor is accountable to and supervised by the
Director of Community Programs. The Family Consultant Supervisor has weekly
supervisory contact with assigned Family Consultants and is responsible for
overseeing administrative and clinical functions assigned to Family Consultants,
in keeping with agency policies. Each Family Consultant’s assigned cases should
be reviewed regularly. Emphasis is given to ISP goals and the implementation of
such goals in the home, workplace/school, and community.
The Family Consultant Supervisor must be able to demonstrate solid decisionmaking
ability as related to the safety and well being of the individuals and staff.
This person will be required to analyze and react to difficult situations, often
under considerable stress and pressure. Decisions will be guided by precedent and
established policy and procedure. The Family Consultant Supervisor must have
the ability to relate to others with firmness and fairness, must be able to delegate
responsibilities, and must possess management abilities and have a sense of fiscal
accountability.
The Family Consultant Supervisor is responsible for implementing the childcare
philosophies; according to: policies, procedures, and practices of Elks Aidmore,
Inc. as they pertain to this job description and as needed by the Board, staff,
teams, individuals, and/or custodians. The Family Consultant Supervisor must be
dependable, emotionally stable and physically capable. This position requires
some physical functions that are considered essential to satisfactory performance
of the outlined job responsibilities, i.e. sitting, walking, driving, speaking,
hearing, and the ability to physically restrain (when necessary). The Family
Consultant Supervisor must be able to serve as a positive role model for
individuals and staff. Also, this person must be able to work with other staff
members and must be able to recognize when assistance and consultation is
needed.
The Family Consultant Supervisor position requires an individual with
demonstrated skill in performing those duties required: this position requires a
Master’s degree in a human services related field. A minimum of three years
experience in childcare treatment and a minimum of two years experience in a
supervisory capacity are required. The individual must be able to obtain a driver’s
license in the state of Georgia.
The Family Consultant Supervisor must have an understanding of the concepts of therapeutic
foster care. In addition, this person must be able to effectively relate to the agency individuals
and parents/custodians of all social, economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds.
The Family Consultant Supervisor must have expertise in counseling and psychological services
for youth and families. The Family Consultant Supervisor must be able to work with a minimum
of direct supervision.
The responsibilities of the Family Consultant Supervisor are:
???? To participate in the evaluation, selection and training of new team members as requested
by the Director of Community Programs.
???? To provide support, encouragement, and guidance to the other staff team members.
???? To assess the needs of the individuals, custodians and individuals served in the program,
to set priorities for those needs in order to plan effective services.
???? To coordinate the implementation of the staff strategies, interventions and activities,
including their timing and sequence.
???? To participate in supervision of Family Consultants.
???? To generate and discuss new ideas for improving the TFC program.
???? To assist in designing and implementing ongoing staff in-services training programs.
???? To coordinate with other team members to ensure that individual responsibilities are
being met.
???? To refer all information and questions concerning specific individuals and groups to the
appropriate program.
???? To be available to help in the confrontation of difficult issues, and to provide mediation
when staff conflict appears unresolved.
???? To ensure and promote a learning environment for staff.
???? To participate in the annual evaluation of staff teams and/or staff members and provide
direction for change and growth.
???? To direct staff in developing a sense of quality among all program components.
???? To encourage collaboration between agency programs.
???? To ensure that documentation, as required by agency policy and minimum standards for
state licensing, has been gathered prior to admission; and to ensure the maintenance of
case records in a manner which is in compliance with the state and agency guidelines on
an on-going basis.
???? To ensure on-going compliance with state licensing regulations, COA and all regulatory
requirements and to report and unsanitary or unsafe conditions.
???? To assist in and/or provide emergency supervision/care of individuals as needed.
???? To attend staff meetings, unit meetings, placement meetings and other meetings, as
requested.
???? To assist in developing individuals services within the community in conjunction with
other agencies.
???? To represent Elks Aidmore, Inc. to other agencies and the public as needed,
making appearances to inform groups about Elks Aidmore programs, and
participating in activities of professional organizations.
???? To be responsible for any other duties as requested or assigned by the Program Director
for Community Services, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Trustees and/or any
committee to which the Board has delegated authority.
