Position OverviewThe Production Supervisor oversees daily operations on the manufacturing floor to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality food production. This role coordinates production schedules, leads and develops line staff, enforces food safety and quality standards, and drives continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles. The Production Supervisor is responsible for meeting production targets, minimizing waste, and maintaining regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of safety and teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach production line staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management to maintain a productive, engaged team.
- Plan and execute daily production schedules to meet volume, quality, and on-time delivery targets while optimizing labor and equipment utilization.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, SQF/BRC processes) and lead pre-operational and line inspections.
- Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve flow, and increase throughput.
- Monitor production metrics (yield, efficiency, downtime, scrap) and generate reports; take corrective actions to meet KPIs.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues, manage changeovers, and maintain equipment uptime.
- Enforce workplace safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence and ensure OSHA-compliant practices.
- Maintain clear, bilingual communication (when applicable) across shifts and departments, including handoffs, shift reports, and training documentation.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of production experience in food manufacturing or similar
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis).
- Familiarity with food safety systems and requirements (HACCP, GMPs, SQF/BRC) and experience supporting audits and inspections.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills with a focus on team development and accountability.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency preferred to support multilingual teams and shift communication.
