Speech Pathologist at Northwest Georgia Charter Academy
Identifies and provides services to students who meet eligibility requirements for the speech-language program; communicates with professionals and parents regarding integration of speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Evaluates communication skills of students referred and diagnoses speech and/or language disorders.
- Conducts and/or participates in IEP meetings.
- Schedules students appropriately.
- Provides consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies in order to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment.
- Reports and maintains student data to assess progress and continuation or termination of services.
- Complies with State and System regulations regarding due process paperwork and Medicaid documentation.
- Refers to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate.
- Investigates and uses new strategies for delivering student services.
- Participates in professional learning opportunities provided.
- Participates with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of speech-language program into the total educational system.
- Participates in the RTI process at local school level as needed.
- Reports information required for local, state, and federal programs.
- Maintains special education records for SI students at local school.
- Maintains prompt and professional communication with parents.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Credentials
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate for SLP
- Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports
- Ability to effectively analyze needs and problems objectively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Preferred Credentials
- Prior experience as a school speech pathologist in a public/charter school
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Written and oral communication
- Understanding of Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, families, and other agencies
- Participation in required trainings to include the EL model of the school
WORKING CONDITIONS & DEMANDS OF THE JOB
Mental and Physical Ongoing Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
Mental and Physical Occasional Demands: Lifting and carrying 10–25 pounds frequently, 25–40 pounds occasionally; may be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others; travel to other locations as needed for training, supervision, or school events.
Environmental Ongoing Factors: Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise.
Environmental Occasional Factors: Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)
WORK SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
- Part‑time per week as contracted to fulfill student needs
