Role Overview

Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, The Knowledge House’s Managing Director (MD), leads and grows program impact, site operations, fundraising and strategic partnerships with other functional, regional, and national leaders.

As Managing Director Atlanta, you are TKH’s regional leader—setting the local vision, goals, and success metrics as aligned with the national organization. You are charged with scaling our reach, deepening our partnerships, and elevating outcomes for students, alumni, and stakeholders. You’ll drive fundraising and revenue, represent TKH to our most important partners, and steward a high‑performing team devoted to equity and innovation. You’ll inspire others, roll up your sleeves, and directly shape how our mission changes lives and landscapes in the region.

The Managing Director serves as the primary revenue driver for the Atlanta region, and primary contact for institutional and individual donors, partners, including community colleges, corporations, learning communities, etc. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, securing philanthropic and earned revenue; establishing and managing school, corporate, and other public and private partnerships; ensuring the ongoing quality and fidelity of The Knowledge House programs, partnerships and culture; and ultimately growing the organization in the Atlanta area.

The Managing Director collaborates closely with the CEO and the Chief Growth and Strategy Officer to ensure compliance and delivery of TKH programs and services in accordance with national program design, curriculum, SOPs, systems, and processes. Additionally, the Managing Director is a member of The Knowledge House’s Leadership Team, which supports the organization by developing the growth strategy and operational plan. As a member of this team, the Managing Director strengthens the connection between The Knowledge House’s national goals and the local work in Atlanta.

Successful candidates will enjoy a fast‑paced environment, be a charismatic leader and build a strong team culture, enjoy leading strategic partnerships to improve the site’s program performance and manage cross‑functional activities. The Managing Director will interact with students as a coach, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships (50%)

  • Own and deliver the annual fundraising goal ($1.5M+), working with national development to steward and expand donor relationships (individuals, corporations, foundations, public funders).
  • Build, engage, and mobilize a Regional Advisory Council to maximize local resources and influence.
  • Serve as TKH’s lead ambassador in Atlanta—cultivating new high‑impact partnerships across tech, education, government, and community organizations.
  • Consistently communicate the TKH vision and value proposition to inspire ongoing support.
  • Act as local ambassador and champion of TKH mission in the region for funders, partners, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Secure in‑kind and venue resources for student, partner, and networking events.

Program & Employer Partnership Leadership (35%)

  • Collaborate with national and local program teams to own regional program outcomes: program quality, recruitment, student retention, and job placement.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community based organizations, employers, and government entities to create a steady pipeline of program referrals/support and job/internship opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with regional organizations to lead events, recruit volunteer and potential employers for TKH fellows.
  • Develop and steward regional employer partnerships that translate learning into career opportunities for alumni and current students.
  • Identify local trends and opportunities to inform and adapt program strategies.
  • Ensure delivery of effective wraparound supports and actively participate in building vibrant learning communities.
  • Partner on hiring, onboarding, and development of regional program staff and instructors.

Team & Organizational Leadership (15%)

  • Lead and mentor a talented regional staff, fostering a driven, inclusive, and mission‑oriented culture.
  • Use data and outcomes to monitor regional performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operational and fiscal stewardship, including overseeing office and event space.
  • Build team engagement through regular communication, professional development, and a focus on impact‑driven results.

Qualifications

Experience:
  • 10+ years’ overall professional experience, with at least 4 years in senior management—including budget accountability, team leadership, and organizational growth.
  • 5+ years’ people management (direct reports), with a record of building high‑functioning, diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and partnership development (nonprofit, education, workforce, or social enterprise strongly preferred).
  • Experience leading programs focused on student success, workforce readiness, or career pathways.
  • Comfort operating in fast‑paced, mission‑driven, and sometimes ambiguous settings; an entrepreneurial problem‑solver.
  • Stellar communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills; ability to energize and influence a broad set of partners.
  • Passion for equity, social impact, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities.
  • Experience working with adult learners or similar populations is highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $105,000‑$115,000 per year. (New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start of the range depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role)

Hybrid Work at TKH

All full‑time staff are expected to come into a TKH office or the field (community and industry events, including conferences or travel for work) 1‑2 days per week, and the Leadership Team will be encouraged to come into a TKH office at least two times per week. There will be one consistent team day a week that will vary by team. Please note that there are some roles that may require being on‑site more based on the job responsibilities.

In addition to the 1 team day, there will be weeks when the expectation is 2 days/week based on required meetings. These may include all staff meetings, department stepbacks, professional development, retreats, events, or other purposeful reasons, as requested by your supervisor or team lead. Managing Directors will also need to be on site at events, which might be held on evenings and weekends.
