Job Summary

The position of Deli/Bakery Clerk has the responsibility of ensuring that the deli/bakery department is a clean, safe, well stocked, inviting part of the store. The employee is to assist the customers with information and location of products as well as suggest other items that may be of benefit to the shopper.

The clerk will assist customers as needed to slice deli meats/cheeses, prepare plates from the full service hot bar, and perform transactions at the register.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
• At least two years of experience in the grocery industry is preferred

Language Skills
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently (Spanish desired)
• Ability to speak clearly

Mathematical Skills
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

Reasoning Ability
• The ability to discern when a customer is in need of some sort of assistance
• The ability to estimate within an accepted range the amount of any given product needed for a particular time period

• Ability to bend, stoop and reach
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours or more)
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work in cool to cold temperatures for long periods of time (up to 8 hours or more)
• Ability to work around potentially dangerous equipment safely
