The CNC Machinist is responsible for the set-up and operation of a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools to produce or repair/refurbish precision parts in conformance with the Company’s requirements for safety, cost, schedule, and quality.

JOB SCOPE/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Calculate dimensions or tolerances of workpieces, products, or equipment, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.

· Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

· Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.

· Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

· Operate cutting/grinding equipment.

· Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

· Confer with numerical control programmers to check and ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly and that output will meet specifications.

· Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.

· Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

· Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.

· Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.

· Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

· Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
