Operations Manager + Winemaker
Georgia Winery is seeking an experienced Operations Manager Winemaker with strong management and communication skills and experience in operating a manufacturing facility.
Georgia Winery was established in 1983 and is a family owned and operated winery that manufactures Sweet Southern Wine, distributes its product across multiple channels, and has growth plans to continue servicing its customers. We are looking for the right person to join our team.

Position Summary:
The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of these practices and processes for Manufacturing, Winemaking, and Facilities. This job is important to business success and serves as a hub for various responsibilities. Promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture is a vital aspect of this manager role at Georgia Winery.
This position will report directly to the General Manager and will also have direct interaction with all other members of the management and general staff of the company while directly supervising all staff in the Operations department.
As Operations Manager/ Winemaker, you will assume responsibility for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the Company through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
Georgia Winery provides training on Winemaking. However, in order to do this job well you must be able to Lead people, Implement processes, Retain information on winemaking, be able to problem solve and make decisions as well as have computer skills, and mechanical/ equipment knowledge.

Responsibilities
Team and Facility Leadership
• Makes good decisions while getting everything done in a timely manner but without rushing through things that may impact Safety or Quality.
• Manages all staff within Operations and is focused on labor productivity and efficiency. Oversee the daily workflow and productivity of the winery team, including task delegation, scheduling, and development of team members.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and keep up with demand.
• Foster a strong culture of safety, cleanliness, accountability, and learning.
• Serve as the primary production lead.
• Lead the onboarding and training of production crew.
• Implements all procedures carefully and holds staff accountable in performance.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
• Suggest changes in working conditions and processes to increase efficiency.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
Mechanical Work
• Performs work on all equipment and handy man tasks.
• Monitors work of all contractors brought on site.
• Has electrical, plumbing, and equipment knowledge- such as pumps, bottling equipment, etc.
• Oversee all winery equipment maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
• Maintain proper calibration and sanitation of tanks, barrels, hoses, pumps, and lab instruments.
• Ensure the facility is compliant with OSHA standards and internal safety protocols.
• Maintains entire facility and grounds including some landscaping and vineyard tasks.
• Documents all work done on equipment log and folders.

Compliance, Safety and Reporting
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all production-related activities, work orders, and lab results.
• Strong computer and management skills in order to follow, update, and implement all procedures, recording documentation.
• Always ensures a safe working environment and that workers are following safety protocols at ALL times. The maximum tank size is 6500 gallons of wine which is the equivalent in a large amount of revenue. You must be responsible for all people, all wine, and all equipment on the property at all times.
• Inventory management for bulk wine, parts, supplies, raw materials, etc.

Winemaking
• Track and analyze key wine metrics.
• Responsible for quality of all wine and staff performance of those working with wine.

Duties Include but are not limited to:
• Directly supervises 6-8 employees.
• Leads staff meetings and trainings.
• Research various projects and education as needed.
• Works directly with staff to get work completed in a timely manner. This is a very hands on job.
• Operates Georgia Winery’s system of operations and helps implement changes and updates.
• Mitigate losses and controls expenses.
• Many other duties as needed/assigned.

Skills & Qualifications
• At least 5+ years of management experience.
• Degree in Enology, Viticulture, or related field and/or winemaking experience totaling 5 years is preferred.
• People-oriented and results driven.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in effective collaboration and excellent communication (both written and verbal).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to climb ladders and operate heavy machinery and equipment safely, forklift and scissor lift certified with extensive experience.
• Office 365 experience- proficient in outlook, excel, word
• Ability to operate software
• Bachelor’s or Associates degree
• Highly organized and can maintain an organized and clean and sanitary environment at all times while ensuring staff to follow these protocols. Also organized in computer use, proper documentation of written and computer documents, and updates to procedures. A winemaking facility requires tight cleanliness procedures at all times by all staff members.

• Ability to work in wet, cold, and contained spaces.
