The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator Class B in our Public Works Department.
This position is to operate assorted heavy equipment with skills specific to bulldozer and excavator in the completion of assigned public works operations.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Inspects and prepares equipment for safe and proper operation.
Operates one or more of the following pieces of heavy equipment: Motor grader, bulldozer, track excavator, rubber-tired excavator.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, which includes changing oil, refueling, and refilling lubricants; ensure repairs are completed on assigned equipment and/or vehicles; changes flat tires.
May be tasked to operate other equipment such as: backhoe, grass tractor, track front-end loader, pot hole patcher, and other similar equipment to contribute to the completion of assigned public works operations.
Performs unskilled and semi-skilled labor including picking up paper, limbs, and other debris from roadways; operating chain saw; and other similar tasks.
Punctuality and attendance are essential.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required; two years of experience in heavy equipment operation or a related field required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain a valid Class B CDL Driver’s License within the first 6 months of employment.
