About the RoleJoin the Frazer Center team and help children grow, learn, and flourish in an inclusive environment that celebrates every child’s potential. As a Pre‑K Assistant Teacher, you will partner with the Lead Teacher to create a joyful, nurturing classroom where curiosity thrives and differences are embraced. You will play a vital role in shaping young minds—supporting children with and without disabilities through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that spark imagination and confidence.
Primary FocusProviding compassionate care and support for the physical and emotional needs of each child.
Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and deliver creative, age‑appropriate lessons aligned with the Georgia Pre‑K Curriculum.
Participate in all required professional development and training for Pre‑K assistant teachers.
Help plan and prepare a vibrant learning environment—setting up interest centers, organizing materials, and ensuring classrooms are ready for exploration and discovery.
Maintain accurate illness and incident reports with attention to detail and care.
Support daily classroom routines, including opening and closing responsibilities.
Provide attentive care for children’s personal needs, including diapering, toileting, and changing clothes when necessary.
Ensure the safety and supervision of all children at all times, fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere.
Monitor classroom materials and equipment, promptly reporting any issues or safety concerns.
Represent the Frazer Center’s philosophy and values with warmth and professionalism when interacting with families, visitors, and colleagues.
Collaborate with specialists and therapists to ensure inclusive participation for children with disabilities.
Maintain all required certifications, including CPR and First Aid, as outlined by DECAL.
Support seasonal camp programs during state‑mandated breaks.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the classroom and center.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
Ability to reach, bend, and stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift from floor to chest level
Ability to sit on classroom floor and/or small chairs
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to and is under the direct and primary supervision of the Curriculum Coordinator of the Assistant Teacher's assigned classroom. The secondary supervisor is the Director of the Children’s Development Program.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of High School Diploma/GED with Child Development Associate (CDA) required
Must complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification (must be kept up to date)
Complete DECAL and NAEYC childcare training and additional training specific to curriculum and intervention programs.
Knowledgeable of “best practices” as it pertains to Bright from the Start: Department of Early Care and Learning licensing regulations, the Creative Curriculum, Quality Rated, and NAEYC standards
Minimum of one year of experience working in a structured educational setting with children from birth to five years old
Training or experience with children who have disabilities
