We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with experience in ground-up construction, representing the general contractor, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess experience & a strong understanding of ground up construction practices, be proficient in reading construction drawings, and have extensive knowledge of various estimation software. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing construction project costs, preparing competitive bids, and providing essential support to our project management team.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine project requirements.
- Review and interpret construction drawings and scope of work to identify all necessary materials, labor, and equipment needed for the project.
- Conduct thorough site visits to gather information and assess project conditions.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate cost data.
- Utilize estimation software and other tools to prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals.
- Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs based on quantity take-offs and pricing.
- Provide accurate and competitive bid proposals to potential clients.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings to clarify project requirements and address any questions.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database of materials, labor costs, and subcontractor rates.
- Collaborate with the project management team to assist in project planning and scheduling.
- Monitor costs throughout the construction process and provide ongoing cost analysis.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, materials, and technology advancements to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to compare quotes and negotiate pricing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with construction estimation software such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
