The Performance Improvement (PI) team supports private equity, lenders, and corporate clients at every stage of their business and investment lifecycle. We help identify, implement, and execute strategies that enhance value and reduce risks, covering areas such as deal value creation, performance enhancement, and transformation. We seek an exceptional Managing Director to lead client engagements across industries, developing comprehensive solutions to operational and financial challenges, and expanding our PI practice with end-to-end performance services including CFO support, post-merger integration, operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, working capital optimization, and interim management.

The Managing Director will source and lead engagements, working closely with client teams to develop tailored solutions to complex challenges, and will be integral in growing our practice and refining our service offerings. The position requires collaboration within a small team to manage multiple work streams effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of all project deliverables within scope, budget, and timeline, often across multiple engagements.
- Apply hypothesis-driven analysis to quickly identify knowledge gaps, source data, and generate insights.
- Develop and deliver value creation plans with measurable opportunities and rapid execution.
- Create prioritized, actionable plans detailing tasks, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Assist business functions in developing new assets, artifacts, and governance frameworks.
- Manage the completion of client deliverables and presentations with clarity and rigor.
- Drive project completion through interim management, direct execution, or advisory support.
- Leverage professional networks to generate and maintain high-quality opportunity pipelines.
- Contribute to business development by developing proposals and pitching to senior stakeholders, including private equity, lenders, and legal teams.
- Serve in interim leadership roles, including functional management and CXO positions.
- Support the development of service line playbooks, thought leadership, and proprietary insights.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, sharing best practices and leading internal training sessions.
- Lead efforts in business development, talent acquisition, and firm growth initiatives.
- Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture within the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program.
- Willing to relocate or be based in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, or Philadelphia.
- Committed to a team-oriented culture, with in-office presence four days per week or willingness to work at client sites.
- 15+ years of advisory experience in areas such as financial assessment, CFO services, sales effectiveness, M&A integration, organizational realignment, process and working capital optimization, cost reduction, and interim management.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives, middle managers, private equity, lenders, and legal professionals, delivering high-value results.
- Strong decision-making skills demonstrating expertise in analyzing complex situations to maximize value.
- Extensive personal network capable of generating new opportunities and cross-selling services.
- Ability to thrive in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Exceptional maturity and professionalism in engaging with senior stakeholders and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong messaging, structure, and formatting skills.
- Responsive, proactive, and able to perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong etiquette and organizational skills.
- Self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Salary range: $900,000 - $1,200,000 per year.
