EXTENSION AGENT HOURLY
COOPERATIVE EXTENSION 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ASSISTANT
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to assist with coordinating and implementing youth education programs and activities, including school programs, 4-H programs, and annual events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in preparation and implementation of school programs for the County Cooperative Extension Office; gathers and transports needed supplies and equipment; conducts classes; interacts with the students; answers questions.
Assists in preparation and implementation of 4-H programs for the County Cooperative Extension Office; schedules monthly meetings and special events, including field trips; makes reservations and completes registrations as necessary; prepares and distributes information to youth; ensures all participants are advised of activities and opportunities; transports youth to events; ensures participants are accounted for on trips; ensures safety of participants on trips; conducts meetings and other educational programs; schedules adult volunteers as needed.
This job includes working some nights and weekends as part of the 40 hour work week.
Performs customer service functions: provides information/assistance regarding County Cooperative Extension services, activities, procedures, forms, fees, or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service; Answers incoming telephone calls; provides routine assistance; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; forwards calls to appropriate departments; and takes messages.
Prepares, compiles, or completes necessary participation reports, and other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, attendance records, activities information, policies, procedures, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Maintains communication with supervisor, County employees, youth, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed in reference to work activities, status of work, exchange of information, and/or assistance in resolving problems.
Operates a personal computer, general office equipment, and/or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, this includes but is not limited to the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by some vocational or technical training; one (1) year(s) of experience in conducting youth programs or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Verbal Aptitude : Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data/information.
Mathematical Aptitude : Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
Functional Reasoning : Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Situational Reasoning : Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability : Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors : Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
