The Director of Tax will lead Landmark Properties internal tax function, replacing the current reliance on external advisors and relieving senior leadership of direct tax responsibilities. This role is critical to support the firms expanding fund offerings and complex LP structures. The Director will serve as a strategic advisor across departments, ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax positions, and supporting investor communications.

The Director of Tax will lead Landmark Properties internal tax function, replacing the current reliance on external advisors and relieving senior leadership of direct tax responsibilities. This role is critical to support the firms expanding fund offerings and complex LP structures. The Director will serve as a strategic advisor across departments, ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax positions, and supporting investor communications.

Duties/Responsibilities: The duties listed below are an outline of the Director of Taxs responsibilities and should not be considered an all-inclusive list. As the needs of the organization change, these duties may be modified as needed.

  • Develop and implement corporate tax strategies to minimize liabilities and ensure compliance with evolving tax codes
  • Lead investor communications on tax structuring and concerns in collaboration with the Investment Management and Legal teams
  • Act as liaison for UK deal teams and external advisors, documenting Landmarks positions and compliance needs.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of federal, state, and local tax filings, including returns, declarations, and extensions
  • Manage CPA firms handling tax compliance across the portfolio of assets and corporate entities.
  • Review and approve tax planning reports and ensure timely payments and filings.
  • Proactively communicate tax law changes and planning opportunities to internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Legal, Deal, and Executive teams to support business initiatives and transactions.
  • Manage relationships with external tax consultants and auditors.
  • Participate in audit processes and ensure accurate documentation and representation.

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in tax compliance and planning, ideally within public accounting and real estate sectors.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or JD preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage external advisors.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with fund structures and LP tax considerations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and databases.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel user who understands and applies advanced Excel features.
  • Proactive attitude geared towards efficiency and improvement of processes as the company and responsibilities grow.
