Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) , named a “Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For.” is a consulting firm with a team of engineers, planners and other related design professionals, is actively seeking to add a talented, experienced Project Manager to our Atlanta, GA or Nashville, TN Aviation team. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work as a team member or independently, and the desire to learn new skills and areas of expertise.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and integrate technical activities for civil and transportation projects at airports, including developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets. Manage project tasks, adherence to deadlines, and project scope.
- Serve as a client manager or grow into a client-facing professional capable of delivering high-quality products and services. Ensure proper and thorough communication with clients under limited supervision from experienced group or project managers.
- Prepare bidding documents (plans & specifications) for airport projects, including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling.
- Responsible for project finances, including proper accounting of job costs, efficient and accurate invoice preparation, and prompt payment of outstanding accounts in coordination with the Accounting team.
- Monitor adherence to quality assurance requirements and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.
- Identify, monitor, and elevate potential risks and claims.
- Facilitate and conduct meetings with stakeholders and clients as necessary. Engage with clients, agencies, and other professionals within the aviation industry.
- Support business development efforts, including the identification and pursuit of business opportunities. Prepare or assist in developing proposals and contracts, ensuring terms of contracts are met and securing supplemental agreements as required.
- Support and guide junior engineers and staff within a dynamic aviation group consisting of planners, engineers, and construction professionals. Review work of others as needed and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Utilize technical software to support the planning and design of airport infrastructure projects. Perform construction observation and/or site inspection to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 10+ years of civil engineering experience with demonstrated technical design & construction expertise in transportation, civil site development, and civil infrastructure projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, pavements, utilities, quantities, engineering reports, and specifications.
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
- Acceptable driving record with a valid driver’s license.
- Experience in design or construction of airport/airfield projects in conformance with FAA Policies & Procedures.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia or Tennessee with additional licensure in adjacent states desired.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
