Scope: Recommends and participates in the development of organizational policies, making decisions within existing policies as approved by the CEO/President and the Board of Directors. Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the staff, programs, and activities of the credit union to ensure organizational objectives are achieved and member needs are met. Maintains effective internal and external relationships. Through effective management and leadership, promotes economical and productive operations and supports the constructive growth of the credit union.

Reports to: CEO/President

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts for the CEO/President in his/her absence.
  • Plans, formulates and recommends for the approval of the CEO/President all policies and programs which will further the objectives of the credit union.
  • Keeps the CEO/President fully informed on the conditions and operations of the credit union and on all important factors influencing them.
  • Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Establishes a sound organizational structure for the credit union and its branches.
  • Recommends changes in the overall organization structure to the CEO/President.
  • Directs and coordinates all approved programs, projects and major activities of the credit union and staff.
  • Assumes all personnel responsibilities to include hiring, promotions and terminations upon the approval of the CEO/President.
  • Obtains maximum utilization and productivity of staff by clearly defining their duties, establishing performance standards, conducting performance reviews and recommending competitive salary structure changes. May delegate these duties to key personnel, however, ultimate responsibility will be that of the Chief Operations Officer.
  • Develops, recommends and operates within an annual budget.
  • Ensures all funds, physical assets and other property of the credit union are appropriately safeguarded and administered.
  • Assists and cooperates with Supervisory Committee, examiners and internal auditors with respect to audits and examinations.
  • Serves as executive officer for research, development and implementation of new products to include product mix, strategies, market segmentation and pricing.
  • Conducts research and related projects with the assistance of the staff on subjects deemed important to the membership or requested by the CEO/President.
  • Develops education programs to advance the knowledge and awareness of the membership in personal thrift, budgeting, family finance, consumer affairs and other information of interest to the credit union’s education goals within budget and objectives approved by the CEO/President and the Board.
  • Directs the planning, organizing and implementing of membership promotions and retention programs, evaluating results and recommending policies, procedures and actions to achieve membership goals.
  • Responsible, along with the CEO/President, for the planning, promotion and administration of all official meetings of the credit union.
  • Continues executive education to remain constantly aware of new ideas and approaches to perform a more efficient operation of the credit union.
  • Responsible for all phases of operations of the credit union along with the CEO/President.
  • Responsible to the CEO/President for the administration of those activities noted above and for proper interpretation and fulfillment of all functions, responsibilities, authority and relationships.
  • Serves as liaison to all staff committees and provides liaison between the committees and the CEO/President.
  • Maintains relations with other associations, government, service organizations and vendors as desirable or necessary and in conformity with the overall objectives of the organization.

Personal Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or 8-10 year’s operations experience
  • 10+ year’s progressive retail management experience with track record of increasing market share and a thorough understanding of retail and commercial deposit and lending products
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote new products, services and departments
  • Thorough knowledge of credit union policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with people
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff
