Description:Primary Function: Responsible for all activities on assigned shift including but not limited to: safety, quality, production, training, and housekeeping. Totally responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operation of the entire plant on assigned shift meeting production goals while maintaining quality standards, ensuring safety, attendance, and all other company policies are being met. Constantly look methods of loss prevention. Special projects assigned by Plant Manager.
Supervision Received: Limited supervision as needed from the Plant and Production Managers.
Direction Exercised: Works with upper-management, laying out production goals. Directs and works with production and quality personnel to insure production goals and quality standards are met.
Working Procedures:
1) In order to operate efficiently and set a good example for our hourly employees, it is imperative that the supervisor is at work at least 15 minutes before his shift everyday that he is scheduled. Both on-coming and off-going supervisors need to compare notes before making shift break.
2) Monitor resin inventory, checking resin tracking book in lab, silo levels, railcars (full and empty), and MFI tests, ensuring different types are separated and that the correct type is being utilized by production.
3) Monitor schedule, confirming with counterpart: lot number running and pounds remaining while ensuring bales are being staged properly.
4) Check merge numbers that are being used, including lab template, labels, and OI.
5) Ensure that OI"s are being updated and turned in at end of run.
6) Decide proper disposition of off quality bales and check to see if any can be reclaimed during production run.
7) Ensure that the correct percentage of regrind, color, and/or additive is being used.
8) Monitor housekeeping in entire plant, including production area, warehouse, break room, lab, and offices. Making sure empty gaylords are broken down and stacked on pallets, floors are swept and clutter is picked up.
9) Monitor employee"s attendance and break schedules performing disciplinary action when necessary.
10) Double check all paperwork for errors.
11) Follow up on check sheets to ensure that information has been filled out accurately and that the checks are actually being performed.
12) Check bale weights and scale calibration periodically throughout shift.
13) Check all lab reports ensuring that proper adjustments are being made to optimize physical strengths, etc.
14) Check quality of fiber periodically throughout shift, looking for cohesion, fusion, tags in conveying system, hard plastic, crimp count, etc.
15) Record all vital information in supervisor"s logbook as a back up to verbal communication.
16) Ensure that all materials used by line personnel are distributed only when needed, taking inventory at the beginning of shift so that all items are available.
17) Maintain all records of a private nature, whether inner-company correspondence or individual employee information, under lock and key and out of the sight of others.
18) Maintain attendance records performing disciplinary actions when necessary.
19) Administer performance reviews at the proper times based on the hire date or date of previous review.
20) The supervisor should be constantly looking for ways to reduce waste. Whether it is off quality fiber, energy savings, loss prevention in the way of theft, reduction in man-hours and overtime, or any other way to make the company more profitable.
21) The supervisor will be expected to take on special projects and/or coordinate training, safety, and any other programs deemed necessary.
Requirements:Prerequisite: College Degree plus minimum of two years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment. Must possess good communication skills, (both written and verbal). Must be able to interact and work well with upper management and hourly employees. Must be extremely organized and be able to multi-task with close attention to detail. Must be a clear thinker with the ability to make decisions. The supervisor is expected to behave in a professional manner and keep his personal appearance neat.
