Survey Party Chief
Job Summary
This project is located in Carrollton, GA and requires mobilizing to the site for project duration. Onboarding will take place at world headquarters in Overland Park, KS.
Survey party chief with at least 15 years of experience and 5 years managerial experience.
Survey experience on conventional power sites is strongly preferred.
As a Survey Party Chief, you will play a crucial role in Construction stakeout and in collecting and analyzing data to support engineering. You will work collaboratively with project team and utilize advanced tools to ensure precise measurements and efficient completion of tasks. Superintendent duties -completing safety task forms, supervision of staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
• Direct, coordinate, and supervise all survey activities on the project site.
• Manage survey crews, assigning daily tasks, ensuring safety, and monitoring performance.
• Mentor and manage field leads and senior surveyors, leveraging their field knowledge to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Technical Surveying
• Establish and maintain project-wide control networks (horizontal & vertical).
• Oversee stakeout of foundations, anchor bolts, utilities, structures, and roadways.
• Ensure quality checks on layout, elevations, and as-builts for compliance with project requirements.
• Perform high-accuracy monitoring, level loops, traverses, GNSS static/RTK, and robotic total station workflows.
• CAD & Data Management
• Process field data and generate accurate CAD drawings and models for construction and engineering use.
• Manage digital deliverables including control drawings, as-builts, and 3D surfaces.
• Coordinate with engineering and BIM/CAD teams to ensure seamless data integration.
• Planning & Coordination
• Develop survey execution plans, staffing schedules, and equipment deployment strategies.
• Work closely with construction managers, engineers, and subcontractors to meet project needs.
• Coordinate subcontract survey services as required for 3rd Party checks, ensuring alignment with project standards.
• Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Conduct regular quality checks and audits on survey work.
• Ensure all survey activities comply with site safety policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Construction Management or Engineering degree. Training on reporting safety, cost, quality, and schedule information. Construction management and contract administration training.
Preferred skills:
Professional License: Licensed Professional Surveyor (PLS/RLS) or equivalent state licensure.
• Advanced CAD/BIM Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, or BIM integration for survey data management.
• Technology Experience:
• UAV/drone survey workflows (photogrammetry or LiDAR).
• Machine control systems (Trimble Earthworks, Topcon, etc.).
• 3D laser scanning or monitoring systems.
• Project Experience: Previous work as Survey Manager or Lead Surveyor on mega projects (>$500M industrial, power, refinery, or heavy civil).
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Trimble Business Center (TBC), Cad civil3d, or equivalent processing software.
• Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with engineering, construction management, and subcontractors to resolve field issues quickly.
• Documentation & Deliverables: Proven record of producing high-quality survey deliverables (control reports, as-builts, volume calcs, monitoring reports, etc.).
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with survey equipment, control networks, and CAD data integration.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on equivalent projects. Valid Driver's License. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
OSHA 10 certification.

Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- See and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- May require work above 5 feet in height.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

- Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
