Radiology Technician (Rad Tech)
The Radiology Technician (Rad Tech) is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray and related equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and facility regulations. The Rad Tech provides compassionate patient care while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety standards.
Essential Functions:

- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
- Position patients correctly to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure radiation safety practices are followed for patients, staff, and self.
- Verify patient identity and exam orders prior to procedures.
- Explain imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Review images for quality and completeness before submission.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Prepare and maintain imaging rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Comply with infection control, HIPAA, and patient privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to support patient care.
- Perform routine equipment quality control checks and report malfunctions promptly.
Other functions:
- Performs other logically associated duties that enhance position through Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Competent in computer applications pertaining to position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technician (Radiography) program.
- Active ARRT (R) certification or eligibility with successful completion within a defined timeframe.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of radiographic procedures, anatomy, and radiation safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient setting.
- Experience with C-arm or fluoroscopy.
- Familiarity with orthopedic, pain management, or surgical imaging.
- Experience with EMR and PACS systems.
