Quality Control / QA Summary – Food Manufacturing

Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate quality procedures to ensure production operations—from raw materials to finished products—meet the organization’s standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Quality Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain quality standards and testing procedures throughout the production process.

• Conduct routine QC testing, record keeping, and inspections on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

• Collaborate with management and staff across production departments to define and maintain acceptable quality standards.

• Develop and implement quality evaluation processes and testing protocols.

• Facilitate communication between production divisions and management regarding quality issues and improvements.

• Review quality documentation, including checklists, logs, and reports, for accuracy, relevance, and compliance.

• Conduct random inspections and quality control audits to ensure standards are met.

• Assess test results, recommend corrective actions, and approve changes to processes as needed.

• Periodically report quality control and operational status to leadership and, if required, regulatory agencies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Knowledge of fundamental Quality Control procedures in a food manufacturing environment.

• Ability to visually identify product defects, inconsistencies, and deviations from standards.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in documentation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None

Education and Experience

• Preferred 2+ years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing or related production environment.

• OSHA certifications or food safety certifications (e.g., SQF, HACCP) are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Periods of walking throughout the production facility to conduct inspections.

• Periods of sitting at a desk performing computer-based documentation.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

• Production and warehouse environment with moderate noise levels.

• Must comply with food safety and safety regulations while performing essential functions.
