HobbyTown® Store Manager - Job Description - Position Summary
Store Operations
•Ensure excellent customer service and maintain the “HobbyTown Way.”
•Handle customer complaints, returns, exchanges, and employee discounts according to policy.
•Uphold brand standards through daily, weekly, and monthly store checklists.
•Manage all Point of Sale functions including credit card sales, check processing, refunds, layaway, gift cards, special orders, and system updates.
•Oversee opening and closing procedures.
•Build and manage employee schedules following labor budget guidelines (10% payroll target).
•Hire, train, evaluate, and retain staff while maintaining proper staffing levels.
•Complete daily cash handling and deposits while maintaining cash over/short within guidelines.
•Track and analyze sales performance.
•Maintain profit margins, manage discounting, and provide new product recommendations.
Product Ordering
•Use SmartSuite to complete product ordering cycles.
•Stay informed on trending and new product opportunities.
•Maintain communication with vendors regarding product availability and updates.
Departmental Support
•Develop strong product knowledge across all departments.
•Execute merchandising standards and planograms.
•Conduct in-store product reviews and demonstrations.
•Stay updated on product publications and new releases.
•Communicate with Franchise Business Advisor and Home Office to address ideas and concerns.
Inventory Control
•Maintain inventory levels and product turns based on franchise standards.
•Process returns to distributors and resolve discrepancies.
•Check in orders accurately and efficiently.
•Ensure accurate pricing, discounting, and promotional updates.
•Lead full store inventory processes.
Training & Leadership
•Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing training.
•Coach, evaluate, and develop employees.
•Communicate company updates through Hot News and staff meetings.
•Maintain consistent team communication and expectations.
Store Promotions & Community Engagement
•Coordinate and run gaming tournaments, model contests, and RC events.
•Execute seasonal promotions and marketing programs.
•Engage local clubs and community groups to build store visibility.
