Nuclear Medicine Technologist
A Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a person who works in a busy clinic and is efficient, patient, and kind.
The best candidate has experience working with both children and adults, is organized, and can carry out patient tests and give them their medication. Since there is no generator in the clinic, they get medication from an outside pharmacy, so being efficient is very important.
**Main Duties:**
- Perform brain SPECT scans and ensure quality checks.
- Prepare patients for IV (intravenous) procedures.
- Get patient doses ready and give them to patients.
- Process and print scan images by the end of the day.
- Follow testing protocols.
- Keep the Odyssey hard drive updated.
- Maintain a correct log book.
- Perform daily quality control checks on cameras.
- Complete all tasks in the hot lab.
- Do daily consistency tests with two sources.
- Conduct daily safety surveys.
- Carry out weekly wipe tests.
- Order the right number of isotope vials one day before scans.
- Keep all documents accurate and up to date.
- Perform leak tests every six months.
- Conduct dose calibrator tests every three months.
- Perform accuracy tests on the dose calibrator once a year.
- Manage medical supplies inventory.
**Qualifications and Skills:**
- Must have a current Nuclear Medicine Technologist License for the state.
- Ability to work well and quickly with many patients in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to handle challenging patients and communicate technical information clearly.
- Good time management and organizational skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must show empathy, emotional stability, and care for patients. Good communication skills are very important.
- Experience with brain imaging is a plus.
- Familiarity with the Picker Prism 3000 system is a plus.
