Job Summary

W e are seeking a Quality Inspector responsible for performing product inspections at various stages of the manufacturing process for turbo expanders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inspecting mechanical components and materials used in high-speed rotating machinery. This position plays a critical role in ensuring quality compliance, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing cycle.

Job Description

• Maintain inspection tools and the working area in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
• Adhere to all prescribed safety procedures and regulations.
• Conduct first article and in-process inspections in the machine shop; document non-conformities via NCRs when required.
• Inspect incoming parts such as castings, forgings, and finished machined components.
• Perform source inspections at local vendor sites as needed.
• Carry out receiving inspections on purchased parts and raw materials, in-process inspections (internal and external), and final inspections of assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Prioritized inspections and communication with production planning.
• Occasional travel to supplier locations for inspections and audits.
• Maintenance of 5S standards in the inspection area.
• Creation of red tags for rejected parts.
• Collaboration with supplier quality engineers and support for NCR-MRB processes.
• Final web-order inspections for turbo products.

Skills Required

• Minimum of 5 years of experience inspecting mechanical parts and materials used in the manufacture of high-speed machinery
• Proficient in reading and interpreting production travelers, technical drawings, blueprints, procedures, and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Skilled in setting up and using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, ring and plug gauges, profilometers, coating thickness gauges, comparators, and sine bars.
• NDE Level II certification in liquid penetrant inspection (ASNT or equivalent) is highly desirable; Level I certification with sufficient supervised experience may be considered.
• Ability to inspect welds at all stages (pre, during, and post-welding); Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification or willingness to obtain is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using various computer systems and applications, including MS Office, Outlook, MRP systems, and engineering drawing databases.
• Experience in the turbo expander or cryogenic industries is a plus, but not required.

Education

• High S chool Diploma or GED required
• Associate’s degree or vocational training in mechanical inspection, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience that demonstrate the required knowledge and skills will also be considered.

Additional Requirements

• This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require standing, walking, and performing inspections on the shop floor.
• Occasional travel to supplier sites is required.
