What You Will Be Doing

The Fire Suppression Technician supports a 24/7, mission‑critical airport environment by inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler and suppression systems across terminals, concourses, tunnels, and support facilities. This role ensures that wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge systems, fire pumps, valves, and supervisory devices remain fully functional, code‑compliant, and inspection‑ready at all times. The technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to system impairments and alarms, and accurately documents all activities in the CMMS. By safeguarding the airport’s life‑safety infrastructure, this position plays a key role in protecting passengers, staff, and critical airport assets.

Fire Suppression Technician Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler and fire suppression systems in a 24/7 airport environment.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge systems, ensuring all components operate safely and reliably.
  • Inspect, test, and service fire pumps, control valves, supervisory devices, and related system hardware.
  • Ensure all fire suppression systems remain code‑compliant, fully functional, and ready for regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct corrective maintenance and implement repairs to address system deficiencies and maintain life‑safety readiness.
  • Document inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and corrective actions in the CMMS with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Respond to system impairments, alarms, and emergency service calls to minimize downtime and support uninterrupted airport operations.
  • Perform routine walkthroughs of terminals, concourses, tunnels, mechanical rooms, and support facilities to identify issues or hazards.
  • Coordinate system shutdowns and impairment notifications with operations, safety teams, and facility stakeholders.
  • Follow all NFPA, local jurisdiction, and airport-specific standards governing fire suppression systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and life‑safety teams to support system reliability and compliance.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and workspaces in a safe, clean, and inspection-ready condition.
  • Completely required inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance in accordance with NFPA 25 schedules.
  • Always Maintain fire suppression systems in inspection-ready condition.
  • Properly document impairments and coordinate restoration in accordance with site protocols.
  • Minimize repeat deficiencies through accurate diagnosis and corrective action.
  • Ensure life-safety system uptime and regulatory compliance.
  • Support a strong safety culture with zero preventable incidents.

Fire Suppression Technician Requirements

  • NICET Level II (minimum) in Fire Sprinkler Inspection & Testing or Georgia Fire Sprinkler Inspector license. (Required)
  • Experience performing inspection, testing, and maintenance of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire suppression systems. (Required)
  • Ability to coordinate work performed under a Georgia Licensed Fire Sprinkler Contractor for permitted work, system impairments, and modifications. (Required)
  • NICET Level III certification. (Preferred)
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or high-occupancy facilities (airport, hospital, data center, transportation hub). (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of fire pumps, backflow preventers (fire side), control valves, alarm interfaces, and supervisory controls.
  • Understanding of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and applicable life-safety standards.
  • Experience documenting inspections and maintaining compliance records.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms; Hexagon preferred.
  • Ability to obtain airport badging and pass background screening.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability with a safety-first mindset.

Work Environment & Safety Standards
This role operates across terminal areas, mechanical rooms, and utility spaces. Work may involve lifting, climbing, confined space awareness, and exposure to heat, cold, and noise. All activities must comply with OSHA regulations, plumbing codes, airport requirements, and site safety policies.
