CONTROLLER/CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER - Family-owned Manufacturer just South of Atlanta
We are looking for an experienced Controller/Chief Financial Officer to oversee and optimize our financial operations in Fairburn, Georgia. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure efficient cash management, financial reporting, and contract administration while maintaining compliance with statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and a proactive approach to supporting organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting, finance, and treasury operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, monthly close, and financial reporting.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and continuously strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and all regulatory standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and present results to ownership/leadership.
- Analyze financial performance, develop actionable insights, and make recommendations for business improvements and cost control.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and tax advisors.
- Supervise and mentor a small team (or oversee outsourced functions, as needed).
- Participate in strategic planning, capital investment analysis, and major business initiatives.
- Oversee and optimize the use of accounting/ERP software.
- Support operational teams with inventory accounting, job costing, and margin analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; prior experience as a Controller or CFO, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting (inventory, cost accounting, job/standard costing).
- Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.).
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and team leadership skills in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience working in a small company or entrepreneurial environment preferred.
