Plant Engineer - Budgeting, Outages & Capital Planning
- Plant Engineer - GPC Plant McIntosh CC This posting serves to fill a supplemental plant engineer at Plant McIntosh (Georgia Power Company), located in Rincon, GA.
- This position will be responsible for engineering related activities at a power generating plant.
- This position is responsible for providing plant technical support and developing long-term plans and budgets to maintain and improve equipment performance.
- Power Generation Engineers manage capital and O&M projects, follow prescribed procedures and conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.
- This position is accountable for providing technical direction and troubleshooting for plant electrical and mechanical systems.
- The incumbent will be responsible for providing ongoing inspection and evaluation of equipment and for determining the appropriate direction on design and performance improvements, upgrades, and other modifications.
- This individual will be a troubleshooting resource for operations and maintenance.
- Provide outage/project management, project budget management, long term maintenance strategies and technical support to the plant Develop.
- 5- & 10-year capital budgets and justification for associated capital projects Provide monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to the Financial Analyst Utilize computer business tools to develop and justify budgets, write work orders, order material, develop project schedules, and monitor equipment.
- Initiate, troubleshoot and review root cause analyses for system equipment failures Work with ClientServices, OEM's and system owners at other plants to stay current of any upgrades or concerns that affect the plant and communicate these needs to plant management, corporate management, and peer groups.
- Education B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited program/institution is required.
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred, but willing to consider other engineering disciplines.
- Experience in a power plant or an industrial facility with mechanical/electrical project or design focus involving the maintenance of the following types of equipment: pumps/motors, air/motor operated valves, fans, condensers, HRSGs, boilers, turbines, combustion turbines, PLC’s, distributed control systems, and industrial electrical switchgear, circuit breakers and transformers.
- Demonstrated project management experience required.
- Strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required Knowledge and experience with personal computers and the ability to learn numerous software applications quickly Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position.
- Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Client.
- Ability to network and utilize subject matter experts at both the corporate level and regional level to support plant systems.
- Display interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to handle conflict and work effectively within a diverse team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
- Flexible to work across primary position boundaries by willingly accepting multiple roles as required to support plant needs.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed May require some extended work hours.
- Must be able to be on-call for the plant as needed Minimal Travel required - 15%.
