Highway Maintenance Lead

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible hours required with occasional on-call availability)

Pay: $25-30/hr

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Highway Maintenance Lead to oversee daily roadway maintenance operations, coordinate teams, and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities, including responding to emergency or on-call situations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a crew in performing highway and roadway maintenance tasks.

• Assign daily work duties, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality completion.

• Oversee safety compliance, conduct toolbox talks, and enforce safety protocols at all times.

• Coordinate equipment, materials, and resources needed for maintenance operations.

• Perform inspections of roadways, signage, and work zones; identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.

• Communicate with management regarding project updates, crew performance, and operational needs.

• Respond to emergency roadway situations, including on-call assignments after hours when required.

• Train and mentor crew members to improve efficiency, safety awareness, and technical skill.

Qualifications:

• Leadership or supervisory experience required (crew lead, foreman, or similar role preferred).

• Experience in roadway or highway construction/maintenance strongly preferred .

• Knowledge of work zone safety standards, traffic control, and DOT regulations a plus.

• Ability to operate or oversee use of heavy equipment and maintenance tools.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in the field.

• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
