OR HS/GED Degree in Natural Resources/Human Dimensions/otherCustomer service, working with peopleExperience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPointDuties:Assist with connecting people to nature at Okefenokee NWR through wildlife-dependent recreation opportunities (the Big 6 Priority Public Uses) as described in the Refuge Improvement Act of 1997.Visitor Center Operations Assist with operation of the Richard S. Bolt Visitor Center including daily opening and closing duties, welcoming and orienting visitors, providing training and guidance to front desk staff, answering visitor questions both in person and by phone, and perform light cleaning tasks.30%Support of Wildlife-Dependent Recreation Assist with the management of wildlife-dependent recreation opportunities such as hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, wildlife photography, environmental education and interpretation as described in the Refuge Improvement Act of 1997 and with secondary recreational uses such as hiking, trails, auto tour, camping, picnicking, and boating in support of one or more of the primary uses. Assist with refuge hunting opportunities including the Suwannee Canal Recreation Area hunt for youth and mobility impaired individuals. Assist with providing refuge camping opportunities including monitoring the camping permit reservation line, managing and issuing camping permits through Recreation.gov, answering visitor questions, and coordinating with maintenance staff to report safety issues with camping platforms and associated water trails. Create accessible content based on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service graphic design standards for refuge signs, maps, brochures, social media, refuge website, newsletters, visitor center exhibits, and other publications. Collect and analyze visitor use statistics and data from TRAFx vehicle and infrared trail counters, visitor center daily visitation data for periodic reports and to assist with refuge management goals.40%Volunteer Management Coordination of the volunteer program including writing volunteer job descriptions, recruitment and administration on Volunteer.gov, interviews, reference checks, volunteer forms, onboarding, training, and retaining volunteers to support resource management, conservation, and visitor education programs and activities as per the Volunteer and Community Partnership Act, P.L. 111-357.15%Working with Partners Work closely with partners to communicate key messages. Coordinate special events, volunteer workdays, stewardship programs, environmental education and interpretive programs, and other outreach programs both onsite and offsite. Programs will highlight refuge management goals, wildlife-dependent recreation, cultural history, natural resources, and others as appropriate.10%Fee Program Assist with the refuge?s fee program including fee collection under the Recreation Fee Program. Ensure compliance with federal guidelines and maintain Collections Officer certification. Inventory, order, and reconcile entrance passes. Process reservations and payment for pavilion and environmental education classroom to provide outdoor spaces for our communities.5%Other:Government Vehicle Training: Online Defensive Driving courseHealth and Safety Considerations: Defensive DrivingRequired Safety Gear: Various, all safety equipment will be provided.Physical requirements: Walking, lifting, stooping, bending, reaching.
