Position Summary:

The Company Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation, loading, and unloading of company products to designated locations. This position requires adherence to all traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, physical capability for handling freight, and effective communication skills. The role ensures timely deliveries, maintains accurate records, and represents the company's operational standards during transit and at delivery points.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate company vehicles box truck safely and in compliance with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
  • Perform mandated pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and associated equipment, documenting and reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Load and unload products at company facilities and customer locations, utilizing proper techniques and equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks, and carts) as required.
  • Verify the accuracy of loaded/unloaded items against shipping manifests, invoices, or other transportation documents.
  • Navigate routes efficiently using maps, company-provided routing, or GPS technology.
  • Maintain accurate and current delivery records, Hours of Service logs,fuel logs, and other required reports.
  • Obtain necessary signatures or electronic confirmations as proof of delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, warehouse personnel, and customer representatives regarding delivery status, delays, routing changes, or any issues encountered.
  • Address customer inquiries or minor complaints related to deliveries professionally, escalating complex issues according to procedure.
  • Manage the collection and return of rejected or returned products according to company policy, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Adhere strictly to all established safety procedures, including safe driving practices, proper lifting techniques, and securing loads.
  • Perform inventory transfers, reconciliation, receipts as needed.
  • Work in warehouse as order picker, verifier, forklift operator as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties in the manufacturing facility as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licensing: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License
  • Driving Record: Must maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards and insurability requirements.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years verifiable commercial driving. Experience in local delivery, multi-stop routes, preferred.
  • Certifications/Medical: Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. Must successfully pass pre-employment and be subject to ongoing random DOT drug and alcohol screening.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of current DOT regulations and safe driving practices. Understanding of or ability to learn Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as applicable to handle products.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient navigational abilities.
    • Strong time management skills and punctuality.
    • Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Basic problem-solving skills related to transport and delivery issues.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
  • Involves frequently entering and exiting of the vehicle cab and trailer/cargo area.
  • Requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs, and occasional handling of heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Involves regular bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and potentially climbing associated with loading/unloading and vehicle inspections.
  • Requires sufficient vision (correctable), hearing, and spatial awareness for safe vehicle operation and maneuvering in various environments.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to both inside (e.g., warehouse, vehicle cab, customer facilities) and outside environmental conditions, including variations in weather and temperature.
  • Potential exposure to extreme temperatures (below 32&degree;F or above 100&degree;F for periods), humidity, ambient noise levels requiring raised voices, and slippery surfaces (wet floors, loading docks, presence of dust, grease, etc.).
