Oven Welders
Job Description
This role combines hands-on installation of insulation on industrial ovens with production MIG welding in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will lead by example on the shop floor, performing labor-intensive tasks to ensure ovens are properly insulated to maintain consistent internal heat, and then applying quality MIG welds as needed. MIG welding will comprise approximately 20–25% of your daily work, with the majority of your time focused on mechanical, fabrication, and installation activities in a tube shop setting.
Responsibilities
- Install insulation on industrial ovens to ensure heat is retained internally and remains consistent during operation.
- Perform MIG welding, including laying beads up to 4 inches, to support the fabrication and assembly of oven components.
- Work primarily in the tube shop to complete fabrication, assembly, and installation tasks as assigned.
- Interpret and follow blueprints and work diagrams to ensure accurate fabrication, layout, and assembly.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fitting, fastening, and assembling metal components.
- Work with various metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum, to complete fabrication and welding tasks.
- Assist with general mechanical and fabrication duties, including operating fabrication equipment such as press brakes as needed.
- Perform physically demanding, labor-based work for approximately 80% of the shift, including lifting, positioning, and securing materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility safety rules.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities by setting a strong example in work ethic, quality, and safety, and by supporting team members on the floor.
- Adapt to changing production needs and support additional tasks related to fabrication, assembly, and mechanical work as required.
- Strong, hands-on experience with MIG welding, including laying beads up to 4 inches.
- Solid understanding of MIG welding processes and the ability to apply them in a production environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and work diagrams.
- Comfort working with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum materials.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools for fabrication and assembly tasks.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with general fabrication work in a manufacturing setting.
- Willingness and ability to perform labor-based work for approximately 80% of the role, beyond welding alone.
- Reliability and openness to working early shifts, including starting at 5:00 a.m. and completing 10-hour shifts.
- Capability to work 40–50 hours per week, depending on production needs.
- Leadership potential, with the ability to be supervisor material and lead by example on the shop floor.
- Experience with TIG welding is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with press brake operation or other fabrication machinery is a plus.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Ownership of personal protective equipment, including basic PPE and steel toe shoes, is preferred.
- Comfort working in a growing, medium-sized manufacturing company with expanding production.
- No formal welding certifications are required for this role.
You join a growing, medium-sized manufacturer that offers the stability of a tenured workforce and the excitement of ongoing expansion. The environment supports long-term growth, with many experienced team members who have built their careers there. As production and facilities continue to expand, you gain opportunities to take on more responsibility, develop your skills, and advance professionally. The culture values hands-on contributors who take pride in quality work and who want to grow with a company that is investing in its future.
Work Environment
This role is based in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, so you will work in conditions that reflect seasonal weather. The position is primarily located in a tube shop, surrounded by active fabrication and welding operations. Standard shifts typically start at 5:00 a.m. and run for approximately 10 hours, supporting a 40–50 hour workweek depending on production demands. You will work with metals such as stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum, using MIG welding equipment, hand and power tools, and fabrication machinery such as press brakes. The environment is industrial and physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, lifting, and manual handling of materials. Steel toe shoes are required, and you are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
