Human Resources Analyst I (Compensation)
DESCRIPTION
This position performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical and professional work in analyzing and administering the various components of the employee compensation programs for the City of Augusta. Assists in establishing standards and procedures for all matters relating to job classifications within the guidelines of local, federal, and state laws and departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the Classification and Compensation Manager or other designated personnel and works with co-workers, directors, supervisors, employees, attorneys, judges, consultants, and the public to support Augusta's compensation program.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and maintains accuracy of s in automated system and maintains database. Assists in writing and evaluating s. Maintains current Augusta, Georgia organizational charts.
- Assists in conducting annual salary studies. Maintains annual salary study data. Assists with job audits for accuracy and validity.
- Conducts monthly audits to ensure that employees of Augusta, Georgia have current, signed s in their personnel files. May participate in conducting monthly FLSA position audits.
- Develops and maintains historical databases and performs data analysis to provide timely responses to salary surveys and requests for compensation or classification related information.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree: No experience required;
Associates Degree: Three (3) years of data research, tracking, or analysis experience in Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting required.
High School Diploma: Five (5) years of data research, tracking, or analysis experience in Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong time management and customer service skills.
- Ability to process sensitive information with discretion and prudence.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances related to compensation administration preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll systems, compensation terminology, concepts of job classification system, survey methodology and/or evaluation systems is a plus.

- Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to resolve problems.
- Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
- Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
- Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
