As City Engineer, you’ll provide engineering leadership and technical expertise in support of transportation and capital improvement programs for the City of Tucker, Georgia, helping deliver infrastructure that serves residents, businesses, and visitors.

In this role, you’ll lead the planning, development, and delivery of transportation and capital projects from concept through construction. You’ll manage budgets, oversee consultant services, secure transportation funding opportunities, collaborate with public agencies and community stakeholders, and provide trusted engineering guidance to city leadership. Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of infrastructure improvements, responsible stewardship of public funds, and exceptional service to the community.

Lead the planning, implementation, and delivery of transportation and capital improvement projects from project initiation through final design and construction.

Develop and manage annual budgets for engineering services and capital improvement programs.

Recommend and administer a 10-year Capital Improvement Program.

Manage the City’s transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program, including oversight of a six-year, $32 million transportation funding program.

Identify, investigate, and resolve transportation-related concerns raised by residents, community stakeholders, and elected officials.

Coordinate with county agencies, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and other external partners on transportation initiatives and infrastructure improvements.

Prepare and manage applications for transportation funding programs and grants, including LMIG, GTIB, CMAQ, and TIP.

Oversee consultant procurement activities, including development of requests for proposals and bid documents.

Review and recommend approval of contractor invoices, contract amendments, and project-related expenditures.

Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and evaluate project conditions.

Provide engineering recommendations and technical guidance to the City Manager on policies, programs, and infrastructure initiatives.

Organize and lead public information meetings and community engagement activities related to capital projects.

Deliver presentations to City Council, work sessions, neighborhood groups, and other stakeholders.

Collaborate with city departments including Administration, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Community Development.

Maintain department records, files, and databases in accordance with applicable requirements.

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff while supporting professional development and team performance.

Attend relevant professional seminars, workshops, and training programs.

Operate a city vehicle and travel to project sites, meetings, and related locations as needed.

Here's what you'll need

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Georgia.

Demonstrated knowledge of standard engineering principles and practices, including GDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD requirements.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Georgia Department of Transportation Plan Development Process.

Experience managing transportation and capital improvement projects through planning, design, budgeting, procurement, and implementation.

Experience developing and managing capital project and engineering-related budgets.

Experience procuring and managing consultant and contractor services.

Experience working with public agencies, community stakeholders, and elected officials.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to a variety of audiences.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, public officials, contractors, and community stakeholders.

Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle for project site visits and meetings.

Ability to maintain regular on-site attendance as required for the position.

Ideally, you'll also have

Experience managing transportation funding programs, including SPLOST-funded projects.

Experience preparing and administering transportation grant applications and funding programs such as LMIG, GTIB, CMAQ, and TIP.

Experience leading public outreach, community engagement, and public information meetings.

Experience supporting municipal engineering operations and advising executive leadership on infrastructure programs and policy matters.

Experience supervising and developing technical staff.

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

107,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

140,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $107,000.00 to $140,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
